As regards to deciding on which crop variety you should choose, may I refer you to last week's lesson on the selection of crop varieties?
Just planting in the planting window is not all that you have to do to ensure that you achieve maximum production. There are other agricultural practices such as crop management that you will need to address too. We shall discuss these another time, but for now let us understand that the chances of achieving a good harvest are better for crops planted within the planting window than for those planted outside.
Next week we shall discuss the end of the growing season. Do not miss this programme as we shall discuss further the benefits of using the planting window.
Remember the planting window is from 15th November to 15th December - this is the period when planting a crop gives it the best chance to reach maturity and provide you with a good harvest
This was followed by a short 'commercial' break, which emphasised the same topic. In this break:
Nkwambila Bwe (a man who does not co-operate) complains: "People are jealous of my good maize crops. They have stopped the rains."
Kanchele retorts: "No! You are just paying for the sin of untimely planting."
